Lee Applegate was a devoted and loving husband of Mary-Jo Lindemann-Applegate. He was stepfather to Cherilyn Caramela-Lindemann (Kimberly) of Jacksonville and father to Timothy Applegate of Georgetown. He was the brother of Jim Applegate and close cousin of John Walker (Lucy) of Mt. Orab.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beatrice Applegate.

Friends will remember Lee for his sense of humor, easygoing nature, and his knowledge of world affairs.

In his younger years, Lee worked as a hairdresser before settling into a career in car sales, where he retired after 30 years. Throughout his life, Lee made many lifelong friendships and enjoyed reading books, fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, and caring for his beloved pets, Blackie and Jr. His other beloved pets, Tyke, Tabby, Buster, and Tia, may be gone but they always remained in his heart.

Lee passed away on September 8, 2026, following an unexpected heart condition. He slipped quietly away surrounded by his wife, stepdaughter, and brother-in-law.

Lee was an organ donor, and the family has honored his wishes through The Network of Hope.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday Oct. 7, 2026 @ 10:30am. at Williamsburg Cemetery, 824 Gay Street, Williamsburg, Ohio, 45176
