Robert Jay Fite-known to most as Bob-was born on December 6, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and passed away on April 6, 2026, in Olympia, Washington.
Bob attended Walnut Hills High School before continuing his education at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a Master’s degree in Engineering. His talent and intellect quickly drew the attention of several high-tech companies, but he ultimately chose to build his career with Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon. There, he devoted 31 years of his life, leaving a lasting mark through his work and the relationships he built.
It was at Intel that Bob met the love of his life, his wife Elsie. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with adventure, traveling coast to coast in their 45-foot motor home and making memories that spanned the country.
Bob was deeply admired by all who knew him. He possessed a brilliant mind and an extraordinary breadth of knowledge-earning him the affectionate nickname “Mr. Google.” It often seemed there was nothing he didn’t know. Yet what truly set Bob apart was not just his intelligence, but his character. He was patient, kind, and generous, always willing to share his time, mentor others, and lend a helping hand.
He was also a gifted storyteller. When asked how he knew so much, he would often smile and say, “I read it in a book.” That simple phrase captured the essence of who he was-a lifelong learner with a quiet sense of humor and wisdom.
Bob was, in every sense, an extraordinary human being.
He is survived by his mother, Norma; his beloved wife, Elsie; his two children (Terry and Robyn Coleman); four grandchildren (Brooklyn, Micah, Ananda, and Ravenna); and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Bob made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of crossing his path. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
