Jesse Thompson Garrett

GARRETT (WW II Army Air Corps Veteran) Jesse T., age 96, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, beloved husband of the late Robbie Garrett (nee Boggs), loving father of Walter L. (Lorie) Garrett, cherished grandfather of Hannah, Esther, Rhianne, Malakai, Jesse, Rebekah, Levi and Leah, also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. After completing High School Jesse joined the Army Air Corps where he was an Aircraft Mechanic for the 39th Troop Carrier Squadron. He served in the Pacific Theatre and documented his WW II experiences in writing and photographs. After the war, he returned to the Atlanta area and entered the printing industry. Jesse and Robbie were married in 1948 until she passed in 2004. They were married for 56 years. Jesse advanced in the printing industry as a business partner / owner and eventually sold his share of the business. He then went into the teaching industry as an Industrial Arts and Printing Instructor with Jefferson County Public Schools. He retired after 27 years. Jesse continued to stay active with his church, activities with the YMCA and with his family. He also stayed busy with various woodworking projects, building WW II model airplanes, reading, and researching. Jesse will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his passion towards serving God and others. Military Honors will be held at 12pm at the funeral home.
