Carl Edward Meranda

Carl Edward Meranda, born on December 20, 1937, in Williamsburg, Ohio, passed away on the February 3, 2024, at his home in Amanda, Ohio. He was the beloved son of Gail and Jenny Meranda.

Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Meranda, who brought him immeasurable joy and happiness throughout their years together. He was also preceded in death by his dear brothers, Richard and Howard Meranda (Margene), and his cherished sisters, Kathleen and Faye Meranda.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carmen Meranda, and his son, Rodney Meranda (Darla). Also surviving him is his brother, Larry Meranda (Jeralyn). Carl will forever be remembered by his adoring grandchildren, Shannon Estep (Shane), Samantha Meranda (Jim Peplowski), Jenna Meranda, and Jess Meranda (Molly). He was a loving great-grandfather to Krishan Patel and Ethan Patel. Carl also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom had the privilege of knowing him.

On December 3, 1960, Carl entered into holy matrimony with Phyllis Meranda. Their union was a testament to love and commitment, serving as an inspiration to those around them.

Carl's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country. He served Honorably with the US Military for over 40 years, achieved the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His commitment to his military duties exemplified his strong character and selflessness.

Outside of his military career, Carl found solace in the company of his great-grandchildren, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He delighted in their laughter and took joy in watching them grow. Additionally, Carl had a passion for golf and enjoyed spending time on the green with his friends, creating lasting memories and fostering lifelong camaraderie.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral service, which will be held at Maham Funeral Home on North 2nd Street in Williamsburg, OH, USA. The gathering will be at 10:30am at the funeral home followed by a service at 11:00am and he will go to his final resting place at Williamsburg Cemetery at 11:30.

Carl Edward Meranda will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a loyal brother, and a dear friend. His unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his passions will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
